ABOUT US

Sounds Smart Speech Therapy is about helping kids succeed by intervening early to develop their speech, language, and/or social skills. Our qualified and experienced speech-language pathologists and speech-language pathology assistants are committed to that goal.

 

THAO T. PHAM, M.A. CCC-SLP earned her M.A. degree in Communicative Disorders (Speech and Language Pathology) at California State University, Long Beach in 1998, and is duly licensed by the state and certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). She specializes in social skills group therapy. She has worked for school districts in San Diego County and Orange County, and has over 20 years of experience working primarily with kids, specifically those with Autism Spectrum Disorders. She is the owner and director of Sounds Smart Speech Therapy. Thao also speaks Vietnamese.

TAMI REECE, M.A. CCC-SLP earned her M.A. degree in communicative disorders (speech and language pathology) at California State University at Long Beach in 1998 and is duly licensed by the state and certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). She worked in various school districts in Long Beach before joining Sounds Smart in 2009 and is part-time.

KRISTI GERMICK, B.A. SLPA earned her B.A. degree in Communication Design at California State University, Chico, in 1999 and has been duly licensed by the state as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant since 2010. She acquired clinical experience at Trabuco Mesa Elementary School and Valencia Elementary School before joining Sounds Smart in 2010.

P7255772MELISSA PHILLIPS, M.S. CCC-SLP earned her B.S. degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences from University of Utah in 2015 as well as her M.S. in 2017. She joined Sounds Smart in August 2017.  She works as our co-lead speech-language pathologist. 

 

StephSSTEPHANIE SIGMAN, B.A. SLPA, earned her B.A. degree in Communicative Disorders from the California State University, Fullerton in June 2014. She became a part of Sounds Smart in July 2016 and is part-time.

NINA KIM, M.S. CF-SLP earned her B.S. degree in Speech-Language Pathology in 2016 and her M.S. degree in Speech-Language Pathology in 2018 from Boston University. She joined Sounds Smart in November 2018 and is a bilingual English-Korean speaker.

ALEXIS DIAZ, B.A. SLPA earned her degree from the University of California, Fullerton in Communication Sciences & Disorders in May 2018. She completed her Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant program to receive her SLPA license from Loma Linda University in December 2018. She hopes to attend graduate school in Speech-Language Pathology to continue her career in the field. She has been with us at Sounds Smart since April 2019.

MarissaMARISSA THOMPSON, M.S., CF-SLP earned her degree in Sociology in 2013 from University of California, Los Angeles. She completed her Post-Baccalaureate in Communicative Disorders in 2016 from Chapman University. She earned her M.S. in Communicative Disorders in 2019 from Chapman University. She joined Sounds Smart in August 2019.

P6195942KYLA LYONS M.S., CCC-SLP earned her B.A. in Speech and Hearing Sciences at Indiana University in 2016 and her M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology from Missouri State University in 2018. She joined Sounds Smart in July 2018.

SARAH GUZZINO-HERRICK, M.A., CCC-SLP earned her B.A. in Communicative Disorders in 2011 and her M.A. in Speech-Language Pathology from California State University, Long Beach in 2015. She joined Sounds Smart in April 2018 and is part-time.

MIKA STOREY, M.S., CCC-SLP earned her B.A. in Communicative Disorders from California State Univesrity, Fullerton in 2012 and her M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology from Nova Southeastern University in 2016. She previously worked at Sounds Smart from November 2011 to May 2016, and re-joined Sounds Smart as a part-time employee in August 2018. She works as our lead speech-language pathologist.

P3135901 STEPHANIE GARCIA is our Office & Billing Manager. She is currently pursuing her SLPA certification in June 2019 and joined Sounds Smart in March 2018. She is also a bilingual English-Spanish speaker.

 

Sam

SAMANTHA SALANGA is our Office Administrative Assistant. She is currently earning her B.S. degree in Communicative Disorders at Biola University and will be graduating in May 2022. She is also interested in pursuing her M.S. in Communicative Disorders in an effort to become a speech-language pathologist. She volunteered with us beginning in June 2018 and began working at Sounds Smart in July 2019. 

Beth

BETH NGUYEN is our Office Administrative Assistant. She is currently earning her B.A. in Communicative Disorders at California State University, Long Beach and will be graduating in May 2022. She is also interested in pursuing her M.S. in Communicative Disorders in an effort to become a speech-language pathologist. She volunteered with us beginning in June 2018 and began working at Sounds Smart in August 2019.
